This is a tutorial based on some of the ones I have read at different sites, that after playing with a bunch of different ones this was the easiest way for me to do this, so easy in fact anyone can do it.
This actually will work, you will not see your car actually drive into the garage, it just kind of teleports into the garage, but it is a great way to give builders and players alike new building options.
Step 1.
Create a corner lot and enter the lot. Add a driveway piece to the lot like shown in the picture below. You want to build the garage first because you will not know which way the garage doors will place until you actually try to place them. If the doors place backwards on the wall, then you will have to move the driveway piece over so you can move the extension piece on the other side of the main driveway piece.
Step 2.
Turn on the moveobjects on cheat. You do this by hitting the ctrl shift c keys and when the cheat box appears on the top, type in moveobjects on.
You will then go to the opposite side of the street and remove the sidewalk. If you have not enabled the cheat, then you will not be able to remove the sidewalk tiles.
By removing the sidewalk, it will make the driveway extension automatically snap sideways when you go to place it.
Now go ahead and lay the driveway extension to the side of the driveway piece while you still have the moveobjects cheat in place.
Build the garage walls around the extension piece.
Add the garage door of your choice. After the Garage door is placed you can turn off your moveobjects cheat. You will not need it to finish up. You will again hit the ctrl shift c keys to bring up the cheat box on the top of your screen.
Now this is where it will either place in the correct position or it can place with the garage door facing backwards. If it does, then you will need to remove the walls and the extension piece, then you will move your regular driveway piece over enough to allow the extention piece to be placed on the other side of the driveway. This is why you want to put in your driveway and garage before building the rest of the house!
Now just finish up your walls and flooring as you want to and you are done! Now your Sims home has a working side garage!!
See, now that was easy!
What are you waiting for, get building!!
